From clean-ups and biodiversity walks to talks and W.I.L.D. Days, our events connect people with nature and inspire action for wildlife protection and rehabilitation across Ireland.
Next Community Event – Team Up to Clean Up

Join us at the Boyne Estuary on the last Friday of every month to help protect this Special Area of Conservation.
Together we remove litter, safeguard local wildlife, and celebrate community action for conservation.
📍 Coast Rd, Mornington, Co. Meath, A92 F2NF – 10 a.m. (tide-dependent)
If you’d like to join us, please email enquiries@wri.ie in advance so we can make sure someone is there to meet you and provide equipment.
Protecting Wildlife Habitats
Wildlife Rehabilitation Ireland’s environmental activities focus on protecting the habitats that Ireland’s wildlife depends on.
Through community litter-picking, habitat clean-ups, and awareness events, we help reduce pollution and restore natural spaces for wading birds, and other wildlife.
Our volunteers and local partners play a vital role in keeping rivers, estuaries, and green areas safe for wildlife — simple actions that make a big difference to biodiversity.
Join us at future events or get in touch if you’d like to organise a clean-up in your own area.

Exciting stuff this year for *wild*, WRI are holding this event exclusively for rehabbers (those amazing people who constantly save the day when it comes to injured or ill wildlife throughout the country) for what promises to be a blend of great speakers, practical advice and a healthy serving of fun and mingling.
Included are talks by Tina Aughney (Bat Conservation Ireland), Karen Mahon (Cool Planet Champion, Meath), Nicola Marples (Professor in Zoology, Trinity College Dublin) and Feargal Timon (Simulation Ireland) as well as lots of engaging learning opportunities in a relaxed and friendly environment.
It will be held in the fantastic Sonairte Eco-Centre and gardens in Co. Meath on Saturday 7th September from 10am – 4.30pm with refreshments and lunch provided.
If you’re a rehabber or you aspire to become one in the future, we’d love to see you there.
Programme – Saturday 7th September 2019
Venue: Sonairte Eco-Centre and Gardens, Laytown, Co. Meath
Sonairte is a visitor experience which promotes a love of the outdoors, organic produce, eco-awareness and sustainable living. The centre is run almost entirely by dedicated volunteers. Every person who joins a WRI community event helps protect Ireland’s wildlife and the natural places they depend on.
By getting involved, you’re not just collecting litter or attending a talk — you’re helping to reduce threats to wildlife, raise public awareness, and build a culture that values nature and biodiversity.
Whether you take part in a clean-up, attend a W.I.L.D. Day, or spread the word online, your actions make a real difference. Together we can create safer habitats, inspire others, and strengthen Ireland’s commitment to protecting wildlife.
