WRI exists to promote wildlife rehabilitation, improve wildlife welfare, and conservation in Ireland.
Support Wildlife — Make a Difference
Every contribution helps Wildlife Rehabilitation Ireland continue its vital work — from wildlife rehabilitation and education to national awareness and conservation initiatives. Your generosity helps us protect Ireland’s wildlife today while building a stronger future for generations to come.
We rely on public support to sustain our outreach, advocacy, and training programmes, and to realise our vision for Ireland’s permanent Wildlife Teaching Hospital.
To make a one-off or regular contribution, please visit our dedicated donation page — every euro counts towards improving the welfare and protection of Ireland’s wild animals.
Your donation helps protect wildlife through education, collaboration, and professional training.
Every contribution — no matter the amount — supports WRI’s mission to improve wildlife welfare, strengthen national expertise, and advocate for stronger protection of Ireland’s wild animals. Donations allow us to deliver accredited courses, host conservation events, and expand awareness of wildlife issues nationwide.
Unlike many charities, WRI focuses on long-term change through education and collaboration. Your support helps us build the foundation for Ireland’s permanent Wildlife Teaching Hospital — a facility designed to train future professionals and improve wildlife outcomes for generations to come.
Every contribution, no matter the size, supports Ireland’s wildlife for generations to come.
Donations fund the delivery of our accredited training, educational outreach, and multi-agency conservation events. They also help us develop resources for veterinary practitioners, rehabilitators, and enforcement agencies working to protect wildlife.
By donating, you become part of a nationwide effort to improve welfare, education, and understanding of wildlife care. Together, we’re building a more compassionate and informed Ireland — one that values and protects its wild animals.
Every purchase helps fund our education, outreach, and wildlife protection programmes.
Shopping with WRI is an easy and enjoyable way to support wildlife while raising awareness of our work. Purchases from our online shop help fund professional training, resources, and events that promote high standards in wildlife welfare and rehabilitation.

Organising your own event is a fun, meaningful way to make a difference.
Whether it’s a coffee morning, sponsored walk, or workplace challenge, community fundraising brings people together while raising vital funds for wildlife. We can provide materials, ideas, and promotional support to help your event succeed.
Every euro raised helps us train more veterinary practitioners, support wildlife rehabilitators, and increase public understanding of wildlife care and protection.
We build meaningful partnerships with companies who share our values and want to make a difference for Ireland’s wildlife.
Wildlife Rehabilitation Ireland welcomes collaboration with businesses that are committed to sustainability, biodiversity, and social responsibility. Whether your company already has an environmental or biodiversity pillar within its CSR strategy, or is just beginning that journey, supporting wildlife rehabilitation can help demonstrate your commitment to Ireland’s natural heritage.
Partnering with Ireland’s first dedicated Wildlife Teaching Hospital and training centre offers a unique opportunity to align your brand with wildlife protection, education, and community action. We deliver engaging wildlife talks that inspire curiosity, respect, and responsibility.
Our school and community talks connect people with Ireland’s wildlife through stories, visuals, and practical learning. Sessions are designed to suit a range of ages and themes, from biodiversity to wildlife care and conservation ethics.
These talks help foster empathy, understanding, and appreciation for Ireland’s native species — encouraging everyone to play their part in protecting the natural world.
We work with educators to strengthen wildlife knowledge in formal and vocational education.
We especially welcome collaboration with FETAC Animal Care tutors, veterinary nursing lecturers, and coordinators of relevant education programmes. WRI can deliver guest lectures, share resources, and support course content with current wildlife expertise.
Our goal is to ensure future professionals gain the knowledge and confidence to respond appropriately to wildlife in need, promoting high standards of care and compassion.
We collaborate with experts to share knowledge through public talks and webinars.
Professionals and researchers are invited to partner with us in developing or presenting webinars that promote understanding of wildlife care, rehabilitation, and conservation. Each session strengthens Ireland’s collective expertise and awareness.
Community participants can join these events to learn from experts, ask questions, and stay informed about Ireland’s wildlife issues — from rehabilitation to policy and law.
Join a growing network of people and professionals dedicated to wildlife protection.
We work with individuals and organisations across Ireland to promote knowledge-sharing and collaborative action. Whether you’re a veterinary practitioner, ecologist, or rehabilitator, we welcome your expertise and ideas.
Together, we can develop new initiatives, improve understanding of wildlife issues, and support national conservation goals.
WRI advertise volunteer vacancies as they arise, here, and on the Volunteer Ireland website. Please check their site regularly, follow us on social media, or subscribe to our newsletter if you would like to be notified about volunteering opportunties.
Wildlife sanctuaries across Ireland are operated almost entirely by dedicated volunteers. They rely heavily on the generosity of the public — both through donations and volunteer time — to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing wildlife.
If you’d like to help, visit the contact listings on www.irishwildlifematters.ie to connect with a rehabilitator or sanctuary near you.
Share Your Skills
You don’t need animal-handling experience to make a difference. Many sanctuaries urgently need practical skills such as:
Carpentry (aviaries, nest boxes, outdoor enclosures)
Electrical work (heating and lighting installations)
Computer skills (fundraising, admin, communication systems)
If you can offer any of these skills — even occasionally — reach out to your local sanctuary and let them know.
Provide a Wildlife Release Location
Do you live in a quiet countryside area? Rehabilitators often need safe release sites for recovered wildlife.
Ideal locations include:
Areas far from main or secondary roads
Land bordered by fields, woodland, or natural cover
Areas where hunting is prohibited
Sites near natural water sources such as rivers, lakes, or ponds
If you have suitable land and would like to support wildlife release efforts, local rehabilitators would love to hear from you.
Donate Supplies or Equipment
Sanctuaries constantly need everyday items to care for injured wildlife. Useful donations include:
Towels and blankets
Pet carriers
Disinfectants and cleaning supplies
Newspapers
Dog or cat food
Wet gear (for volunteers working outdoors)
These simple items make a huge difference and help sanctuaries redirect their limited funding toward treatment and specialist care.
Your voice helps us reach new audiences and inspire change for wildlife.
Follow WRI on social media, share our updates, and help raise awareness of wildlife welfare and protection. Every post, like, or share helps build a stronger community for Ireland’s wild animals.
You can also sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about training opportunities, events, and new educational resources.
Your support empowers us to train, educate, and advocate for Ireland’s wildlife.
With your help, WRI delivers accredited wildlife training, coordinates cross-sector conferences, and produces national educational resources. Our work supports practitioners, policymakers, and the public in creating a more compassionate Ireland for wildlife.
Each partnership, donation, and collaboration contributes to long-term change — building the expertise and infrastructure needed for Ireland’s permanent Wildlife Teaching Hospital.
